Print: Celebrating the Seasons - April

£75.00

In this series of twelve paintings, Laura invites you to stop and savour a moment. Every piece shows a distant view framed by exuberant flowers, food and drink, all chosen to evoke the unique flavours and feeling of each season. This series is about celebrating the gift of being alive; of being present and wholly absorbed in a place and time. Laura hopes these images inspire joy and that they offer an opportunity to be transported and revived.

The first fruit from the garden - bright pink rhubarb - arrives in profusion in April. The bright, tart flavour compliments the lemony colours of the month’s wildflowers: primrose, marsh-marigold, cowslips and buttercup. In the vase there are also water avens, lady’s smock, wild garlic flowers, bluebells, violets and campion. Beyond the window you can see a carpet of bluebells in the woods. In the foreground is a well-polished sugar caster showing the reflection of the artist. The Admiralty watch belonged to Laura’s uncle and, at the request of her daughter, shows the time of half past three - the time when school closed for the day.

This giclée print is mounted, measuring 14 3/4in (37.5cm) x 10 3/4in (27.3cm).
